The ‘Grand Canyon’ of Oman
Jabal Shams or Jebel Shams (Arabic means Mountain of Sun) is the most popular place must visit on you to do list in Oman. Located about 240 km from Muscat in north Al Hamra town. Jebel Shams is the highest mountain of Hajar range with Oman’s highest peak at 3,009 m (restricted area as military base) but you can access to the 2nd summit with 2,997 m via the W4 trail. There are many view points all are spectacular view.

It’s call Jebel Shams because it is the first place to receive sunrise in Oman due to its high peak not only that but all it unforgettable trip starting from the beginning to drive through the Hajar mountain area it surrounded by hight mountains that taking your breath away. It amazing drive and enjoy the view up and down mountains after mountains. FYI, You need 4×4 car to clim up here.
Amazing View of Jebel Shams
There are many hiking trails and best views. We do a balcony walk (W6) to see the views and small local house and we saw a goats climbing the tree.
